The BlackWater Structures Story
BlackWater Structures got its start out of a necessity. Our owner and founder, Eric White, needed (…or wanted) a 50x60x10 pole barn with vaulted ceilings and a 14’ tall garage door built on his personal property. This building needed to be set back over 100 feet from the road and had to have a concrete floor and driveway.
Eric already owned two other businesses, one of them being Oklahoma’s most premiere antique mall in the state, Red Beard’s Treasure Chest. He didn’t feel like he had the time to build the building of his dreams so he called and emailed every “pole barn” builder he could find. He ended up sending out 9 requests for quotes from all the major players in the Tulsa area pole barn world. Four of the nine companies told him it was impossible to put a 14’ tall door in with 10’ sidewalls (Hello! Scissor trusses anyone?)
He didn’t want to deal with those 4 companies anyways. Two of the pole barn companies still haven't got back to him with a quote (maybe they are just running a little behind…) Three companies actually got back to him with a quote. All three of these quotes came back within one thousand dollars of each other. The only problem being was that the price was outrageous!
Eric knows quite a few people in this region. He started putting out his feelers to see if he could possibly do this on his own. Come to find out, these companies were making over $20k in pure profit on this type of building. Everyone needs to make a profit, but they don’t need to get rich off of you. At that moment, he decided to get to work putting together the best possible crews he could. BlackWater Structures built Eric’s building, and then proceeded to continue building the highest quality pole barns on the market at a reasonable cost just by word of mouth.
At BlackWater Structures, we are proud of how we started. We are happy that we can build high-quality buildings while making a profit—but we sleep at night knowing that we are fair with our prices while offering top-tier service to our customers.
